Community Associations. Tina works with residential, mixed-use, and commercial common interest developments throughout California performing both transactional and litigation work. She works closely with boards of directors and managers in providing the following services:
- Prepare, review, and interpret governing documents (CC&Rs, Bylaws, Rules & Regulations, Architectural Standards and Collection Policies).
- Provide legal advice related to corporate governance, including procedural requirements for conducting meetings and elections, director qualifications, term limitations, use of proxies and cumulative voting, and production requirements in response to requests for association records.
- Negotiate, draft, and interpret contracts.
- Represent associations in dispute resolutions (IDR and ADR).
- Advise and represent associations in all stages of litigation.
- Provide counsel concerning collection practices, including judicial and non-judicial foreclosures.
Experience. Prior to joining Adams Kessler PLC, Tina practiced in a civil litigation firm where she developed her skills as a litigator. She is experienced in all phases of civil litigation, including trial preparation, motion practice, presenting oral arguments, taking and defending depositions, and engaging in extensive pre-trial discovery.
Judicial Externships. While attending law school, Tina served as a judicial extern for the Honorable S. James Otero (United States District Court for the Central District of California) and for the Honorable Sheri Bluebond and Erithe A. Smith (United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California). During her judicial externships, Tina drafted orders and memoranda for a wide variety of cases ranging from general commercial litigation, contractual disputes, and consumer and business bankruptcy matters.
Education. Tina is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government. She then earned a Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law. Tina is admitted to practice in the State of California as well as the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Language. Tina is fluent in Mandarin-Chinese.
